RX10 rotary table system

Rotary axis calibration system. Fully automatic axis calibration to 1arc second accuracy.

The RX10 is used in conjunction with the ML10 laser system, allowing rotary axes to be calibrated to laser accuracy.

This patented method of calibration has revolutionized the measurement of rotary axes. Automated testing enables a rotary axis to be checked in just 25 minutes. This represents a massive time saving of more than 5 hours over traditional methods such as auto-collimators and optical polygons.

In line with the fundamental importance of rotary axis accuracy, recent national and international standards have made strong provision for their measurement.

RX10 rotary indexer kit

Rotary axis calibrator

The RX10 features an extremely accurate Hirth-coupling design that guarantees quality and reliability of the indexer along with the accuracy of the laser. With its built-in self-calibration routine, centering and other set-up inaccuracies are easily eliminated.

The basic system offers 1.0 arc second accuracy (0.5 arc second to special order) and will operate horizontally, vertically or even upside down, for easy calibration of different orientations of rotary axis.

Includes:

  • RX10 indexer + controller
  • Angular reflector mounting plate
  • RX10 clamping plate
  • Control cable and guide
  • RS232 Cable and 9-25 way adaptor
  • Mains cable
  • Carry case

Note: Angular measurement optics are required for use with the RX10 to measure axis movement.

To automatically calibrate rotary tables or axes that lift before rotating, the Lifting Table Accessory Kit is also required.

Part # A-8003-1773, Cost: $22,246.00

High Accuracy RX10

Identical to the standard RX10, except that the accuracy specification is +/- 0.5 arc seconds.

Part # A-8003-2297, Cost: $24,250.00

Angular measurement optics

Interferometer optics for angular measurement

These optics allow angular pitch and yaw measurements to be made with the ML10 laser system. Angles up to ±10° with resolution of 0.01 arc seconds.

Includes:

  • 1 Angular retro-reflector
  • 1 Angular interferometer
  • 2 Alignment targets

Also required for use with the flatness measurement kit and the RX10 rotary axis calibrator. Note: May also require optics mounting kit (Part no. A-8003-0447)

Part # Angle Retro-Reflector A-8003-0181, Cost: $1,894.00
Part # Angle Beam Splitter A-8003-0186, Cost: $2,333.00

Total Cost: $4,227.00

Lifting table accessory kit

The Renishaw Rotary Axis Calibration System (RX10) allows fully automatic calibration of most rotary axes. However, indexing tables that lift before rotating cannot be calibrated automatically because the beam of the laser interferometer is broken when the indexer lifts.

This can be overcome by using the lifting table accessory kit, which allows indexing tables with up to 15 mm of lift to be calibrated. A typical setup for calibrating an indexing table with the RX10 and Lifting table accessory kit is shown in the diagram on the right.

Specification:

  • ±0.2 arcsecs - Additional Error when using the lifting table accessory kit
  • 15 mm - Maximum permissible lift of indexer table under calibration
  • Maximum velocity of table under test:
30 rpm - When the measurement step size is less than 10 degrees. 2 rpm - When the measurement step size is more than 10 degrees.
  • Only mount the lifting table accessory kit on to Face A of the RX10.

Only use the lifting table accessory kit with RX10s, which have been built after January 1996.
