Vega CNC System Details - The Lastest In CNC Technology
PC BASED CNC

The MLM Series of CNC controls are PC based CNC s utilizing shop hardened, industrial quality components to ensure reliability in the harshest environments.
The MLM uses standard PC compatible disk drives to allow easy, fast and low cost upgrades as required.
The PC compatible makes an ideal platform for high speed, precision motion control, and I/O control. The unprecedented horse power of the Pentium processor makes the PC platform a viable alternative to the high-priced proprietary CNC s of the past.
10.5" TFT Color LCD Display
A 600 x 800 10.5" LCD display puts a crisp, color, operator-intuitive CNC at your finger tips. The light weight and low heat generating LCD not only provides an attractive touch and feel to the MLM Series control, it also reduces heat induced component failures associated with enclosed CRTs.
Multi-Axis Control Card
The 2536 multi-axis card provides a lightning fast 30 MHz non-quadrature mode and a blazing 17-MHz in x4 quadrature mode interface of incremental encoder input for position feedback. The high resolution 16-bit DAC provides a stable and direct +/- 10 Vdc command signal for servo motor control. The encoder inputs and DAC outputs may be configured for a variety of applications including spindle, open loop, hand pulse generators, or any other device requiring a DC analog input or supplying a quadrature/non-quadrature output.
The 2536 board can have up to 8 axes per board and uses only 4 I/O address locations, allowing multiple boards in a single system. The 2536 also has 3 independently programmable timers that may be used for real-time interrupts. The 2536 includes 24 points of user programmable I/O that is utilized via an Opto-22 compatible I/O connector. All this and an on-board watch-dog timer to allow for an orderly shut down in the event of computer failure.
8-Channel 12-Bit A/D Converter
The MLM comes standard with a DAS-801 40 k/sec samples A/D converter card. One channel is dedicated to the feedrate override pot. The other 7 are user configurable and may be used for spindle speed override, tachometer, load sensors, tracer probe feedback, adaptive control, or other analog sensing devices.
Open Ended I/O Architecture
The MLM Series of controls utilize an open ended I/O architecture to facilitate an individual application. The MLM uses Boolean logic in human-readable State Sequence Logic (SSL) to interface the executive system to the I/O interface. The DAS PIO-96 comes standard in the MLM to provide a versatile I/O device interface via any standard Opto-22 compatible device. Multiple PIO-96 boards may be installed in the MLM as required.
User Friendly Keyboard ( UFK )
The UFK provides a CNC-specific interface to the executive operating system. This keyboard, designed for machine operation, has the familiar alpha-numeric layout surrounded by application-specific keys. The "softkeys" located below the LCD display provide additional application-specific quick access without the fumbling associated with standard PC keyboards.
Hand Held Pendant
The MLM has three remote hand-held pendants available.
The 2714 comes standard with the MLM Series CNCs and includes Cycle Start/Stop, Block, Aux, and Plus/Minus push buttons and axis select and increment jog select rotary switches. Cycle Active and Fault indicators, a feedrate override pot and an Emergency Stop mushroom button complete the pendant.
The optional 2715 includes all of the controls in the 2714 pendant and incorporates a 4 x 20 LCD display for position display and error messages.
The optional 2716 includes all of the controls in the 2714 pendant and incorporates a hand pulse generator for additional incremental control of the axis.
NEMA 4 Shop Hardened Enclosure
The MLM is enclosed in a NEMA 4 all steel enclosure to protect the vital organs of this animal from the unfriendly foes in your shop environment. The MLM comes ready to mount using Rose enclosures system 4980 components or may be custom ordered using your specifications. The MLM also comes with an OEM panel for standard machine applications. A custom OEM panel may be ordered for specific applications.
